New journal for ESP

20-11-2013

A new open access journal in English for Specific Purposes at Tertiary Level -- ESP Today -- has been launched in the Mediterranean region, based in Belgrade.

Since ESP at university level in non-Anglophone countries is mostly about professional reading and writing, MET members might occasionally find relevant articles in this journal, so we're adding it to our list of open-access journals to watch. For example, the first issue has a report by Ana Bocanegra-Valle, editor of Ibérica (journal of the European languages-for-specific purposes association AELFE). Dr. Bocanegra reports on a survey of authors of her journal to ascertain their attitudes on choice of language for publication.

Insights into authors' attitudes will potentially help authors' editors and translators involved in bilingual journal publication projects. The pool of authors surveyed, however, consisted only of applied linguists.
