Rowena Murray

  Rowena Murray is an expert on academic writing. Professor of Education and Director of Research at the University of the West of Scotland, she was also Visiting Professor at Swinburne University, Melbourne, and is a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in the UK. She has published numerous articles and eleven books including How to Write a Thesis, Writing for Academic Journals and Writing in Social Spaces, and co-authored The Handbook of Academic Writing. As well as her work in this field, her teaching and research cover educational leadership and frameworks for writing. Her structured writing retreats are a popular training resource for writers and students.









 

Tim Parks

  Tim Parks has translated an impressive list of books, including Machiavelli’s The Prince and works by more modern Italian authors such as Moravia, Calvino and Calasso. He is better known, however, as a novelist in his own right. He has also written non-fiction about living in Italy, the art of writing, and his experience of chronic pain and meditation. Born in Manchester, he grew up in London and was educated at Cambridge and Harvard Universities. In 1981, he moved to live in Verona, Italy, and now runs a postgraduate degree course in translation at the Independent University of Modern Languages in Milan.
