Angel Cardama, professor
of antennas at the Universitat Politècnica
de Catalunya and a Member of the Royal
Academy of Doctors (2002). Author of
over 60 papers on the design of microwave
imaging systems and communications antennas,
Dr. Cardama and his group have pioneered
research on fractal antennas, distinguished
by the European Council of applied Sciences
and Engineering with the “European
Information Technology Prize”.
Ricard Guerrero, professor
of microbiology at the Universitat de
Barcelona and the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.
Dr. Guerrero’s many scientific
publications have furthered knowledge
of microbial communities (bacterial
films in the Ebre River delta, anaerobic
photosynthesizing bacteria in the lakes
of Banyoles) and other aspects of the
ecological roles of bacteria.
