Time management: getting the job done outside a
structured office environment

METM 06, Barcelona
27-28 October 2006

Panel Coordinator: Ann Graul
Saturday 28, 11:50-13:00, Room 1

Distraction and isolation are just two of the obstacles that must be faced and overcome when working outside a structured office environment. Many people are unable to establish a successful work–home balance when work and home life take place within the same four walls. Together with panelists Susan Feitoza (Prous Science, Lisbon) and Bettina Meyer (independent editorial coordinator), Ann Graul (Prous Science, Barcelona) will discuss effective time management techniques, tools and tips designed to facilitate working from outside the office (or traveling between home and office), and potential traps to avoid if the freelance endeavor is to succeed.

Panel coordinator Ann Graul, whose academic background is in the liberal arts (Lawrence University, 1987), has worked in scientific publishing at Prous Science since 1988—both in-house and at home since 2000. She is now responsible for writing and editing the Integrity(R) Disease Briefings, which are a series of continuously updated online reports focused on diseases and their treatment.
