  • Call for papers for the 1st International Conference on teaching grammar, deadline 15 Oct. 2013

    Language teaching
Papers: Abstracts of no more than 500 words should be submitted before October 15, 2013. All abstracts will be subject to peer-review.

The Research Group “GIEL” in collaboration with  the Department of Language and Literature at Universitat de València issues an open invitation to participate in the I International Conference on teaching grammar, to be held in Valencia on the 27th and 28th  February, 2014.

Teaching grammar, as a component of teaching language and literature at various educational stages, has invariably aroused strong debates centred around three fundamental aspects: the objectives; the course content; and the intervention methodology in the classroom. There can, at present, be no doubting that all three aspects invite grammatical reflection from the perspective of students’ metalinguistic competence development as well as the complex relationships between grammatical knowledge and language use, either from the field of first, second or foreign language acquisition. Equally, it is worth considering these aspects from a diachronic perspective, which offers an insight into the evolution of language teaching and the construction of language didactics as a discipline.
The organizers have place further information here.  (+)
