METM16 interactive session

Speed networking

Helen Oclee-Brown, Staplehurst, UK

Join us for a fun, interactive session during which you'll put your networking skills to the test. Whether you're looking for new contacts, a partner or a mentor, or you simply want to build your network, this is the perfect excuse to talk shop. But speed networking isn't just a great chance to make new contacts; it’s great prep for wowing clients in the future.

With a packed METM schedule, it's all too easy to gravitate towards familiar faces during the coffee breaks. Well, not at this session. You'll be matched up at random with a series of your fellow attendees to try out your best pitch. Use this time to turn the spotlight on what you do and what you have to offer. So no bland intros, please. And don't forget that it's just as important to listen.

You should come prepared with a clear view of how you want to present yourself and what you want to achieve. Business cards and note paper will also come in handy so you can follow up any leads later on. A word of caution: speed networking may not instantly lead to rewarding, long-lasting business relationships, but it can set you off on the right path.
