Translate different: Translating on a Mac
David Cullen (Spain)
Apple Mac computers are increasingly popular, but they are often overlooked by translators because they are seen as not being as practical as Windows machines. Issues include the lack of computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools or fears over compatibility, but what is the state of the question now? The aim of this session is to provide a brief introduction to a translator's workflow on a Mac, presenting the reasons why and why not to consider using one. The session will look at the tools available for users in general and translators in particular. The topics to be covered will include compatibility issues, vital applications, possible CAT solutions and other tips, tricks and tools.
