MET at London Book Fair panel

14-03-2025

On Wednesday, 12 March 2025, MET’s vice-chair Emma Goldsmith joined a panel at the London Book Fair to discuss The Benefits of Specialist Networks, hosted by the Literary Translation Centre.

The conversation, moderated by Paul Russell Garrett, revolved around the benefits of regional, subject-specific and language-specific networks for language professionals, how and why members should engage with their associations, and whether size matters.

Emma talked about MET’s founding in 2006, crediting sister association SENSE for its visionary approach back in 1995 and noting how NEaT picked up the baton in 2015 to follow in MET’s footsteps. She emphasized how members could share and acquire skills by coming forward to help, and how volunteering is vital to ensure these non-profit organizations thrive.
