Christine Bernhard O’Neill is a freelance translator, editor and proofreader of German and English texts. She works both from English into German and German into English.

She is an associate member of the Irish Translators’ and Interpreters’ Association and a full member of the Association of Freelance Editors, Proofreaders and Indexers. Christine holds a Ph.D. (on the stylistics of James Joyce) from the University of Zurich and an M.Phil. (in Anglo-Irish literature) from Trinity College Dublin.

Over the years Christine has worked in cultural institutions in Dublin (Dublin City University, the Arts Council, the Irish Museum of Modern Art, Literature Ireland) and Zurich (Zurich James Joyce Foundation). She is the author of several books and numerous articles. She has translated novels from both English and German and has edited many works in both languages. Christine is an expert reader with Literature Ireland (the national organisation for the promotion of Irish literature in translation) and a Board Member of the International James Joyce Foundation.
