I specialise in language-editing medical and life sciences texts written by non-native English speakers, and developmental editing to improve both the clarity of the text and the chances of publication in a reputable scientific journal. I really enjoy the challenge of helping researchers to express their results clearly, while still retaining their ‘voice’ as author. I also offer pre-submission copyediting.

As a Canada > UK > Germany transplant who experiences every day the challenge of communicating in a second language, I have a personal as well as professional understanding of what ESL (English as a second language) authors face when writing in English.

I spent more than 20 years working in the UK health sector, in areas such as public health, medical research, primary care, medical devices and diagnostics, health technology evaluation and pharmaceuticals. I have edited health-related texts on a freelance basis since 2013. I am a professional member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (UK).
