Macros from square one: learn to work smarter and faster with Word macros
Work more efficiently by using Word macros – powerful yet free tools that can boost your productivity and income while reducing repetitive strain. This demonstration-based webinar shows editors and translators how to harness macros to automate routine tasks in Microsoft Word. You’ll discover how easy macros are to use once you understand the basics, with real-world examples showing how they can enhance your workflow.
Facilitators: Jennifer Yankopolus and Paul Beverley
Purpose: To gain the knowledge and skills needed to incorporate time-saving macros into your workflow.
Description: In this practical session, you’ll see how macros can speed up copy-editing, fact-checking on the internet, identifying inconsistencies in proper nouns, adding terms to your style sheet, and much more. The session breaks down the technical steps into manageable chunks: how to install macros and assign them keyboard shortcuts. Through multiple demonstrations, you’ll see these time-saving tools in action and learn how to access the extensive Word Macro Tools library – a collection of over 1000 free macros created by Paul Beverley specifically for editors and translators. You will also receive detailed written instructions and practice materials, which will give you experience editing with macros, and you can use the recording to guide you through the technical steps at your own pace.
Participant profile: Suitable for editors and translators using Microsoft Word 2016 through 365 on PC or Mac. The demonstrated macros, and most macros in the Word Macro Tools library, work across multiple languages, making them valuable for multilingual projects.
Outcome: By the end of the webinar, you will:
- understand what macros are and how they can be used to streamline your work
- know how to install macros and assign shortcuts
- have a curated list of essential macros for common repetitive tasks
- know how to find macros suited to your specific project and workflow needs
