Literary translation “under threat”

04-02-2015

In a press release, the European Council of Literary Translators’ Associations (CEATL), representing some 10,000 literary translators in 29 European countries, urges the parties responsible for the ongoing Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) negotiations between the European Union and the United States of America to include the book sector among the cultural sectors exempted from the TTIP agreement. Without this exemption, CEATL argues, the agreement poses a threat to Europe’s publishing and literature.
