METM26 keynote speakers11-04-2026We are delighted to be joined by two stellar keynote speakers for METM26 in Perugia. Sarah Ogilvie is a linguist, lexicographer and computer scientist who teaches at the University of Oxford. She is a former editor of the Oxford English Dictionary and previously worked at Amazon’s innovation lab in Silicon Valley. Her latest book is The Dictionary People: The Unsung Heroes Who Created the Oxford English Dictionary (Chatto and Windus). Sarah’s talk at METM26 is titled Uncovering unheard voices: the Oxford English Dictionary and beyond. Lawrence Venuti is professor emeritus at Temple University (Philadelphia), an esteemed translator and widely published translation theorist. He is best known for The Translator’s Invisibility: A History of Translation (Routledge). Lawrence will share his perspective on translator creativity and machine collaboration in a talk titled Algorithms of interpretation: redefining translation in a machine age.
