New workshops for 2012

21-02-2012

The program of workshops for 2012 is now posted on the workshops page. The first workshop is in less than two weeks’ time, on Friday, 2 March. To register use this form.

The program kicks off on 2 March with “MET medley: talks, tasks and open discussions”, a workshop open to all. On Monday, 12 March, there is the first of two sessions on the “Sea of Words” cooperative author- and translator-editing project. The second “Sea of Words” session is on 18 May.

On 3 May, Joy Burrough-Boenisch delivers the first of a two-part series on editing non-native English, which explores the different types and levels of editing and how editorial changes can be justified.

On 24 May, we have the first of MET’s “Grammar pathway” workshops, addressing essential concepts underlying common phrasing problems.

The season concludes, on 26 May, with “Style Matters”, a full-day workshop on better writing in translation, facilitated by Chris Durban and Ros Schwartz. The focus of this workshop is on stylistic quality and the benefits that an emphasis on good style can have for translators and editors and their clients. Important note: the reduced early fee for this workshop is valid until 18 March.
