Ondřej Klabal has paper published

MET Member Ondřej Klabal recently published a paper entitled "Step-by-step approach to teaching legal translation: the case of understanding English legal texts." The paper presents a step-by-step approach to teaching legal translation using the understanding of English legal texts as a case in point. It looks at a range of issues that pose difficulties to trainees, including understanding complex sentences showing all-inclusiveness and syntactic discontinuities, legal cross-referencing expressions, and conjunctions whose meaning may not be transparent. It also suggests exercises for overcoming these difficulties in a systematic way. The paper is available to read online.
