Results of our social media survey

To keep up with the changing social media landscape, in November we ran a survey to find out how readers use our four online channels. The survey was shared through our members' newsletter, non-members' mailing list, our website and on social media. Here's a round-up of what the 102 respondents told us:

Facebook: home to our largest audience and the most engagement. Despite over a third of respondents expressing a desire to move away from it, 59% said they still wanted to see MET on Facebook.

Instagram: a small but stable audience.

LinkedIn: engagement on the rise. Many respondents (77%) said they would like to keep up with our news here.

X, formerly Twitter: a strong trend to move away from X, with only 11% of respondents wanting to see MET there.

Other platforms: 20% of respondents said they had already moved from X to Bluesky or Mastodon, or were planning to do so. Responses were evenly split between the two.

The survey revealed that our monthly newsletter is our most reliable source for communicating with our members.

We have decided to leave X and will close our account in early 2024. We will keep an eye on alternative new channels and see how things progress.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the survey and provided these valuable insights.
