Qualifications and experience

I’m a Spanish and French to English translator, proofreader and editor, native to Scotland and now based in Faringdon in Oxfordshire. I have always loved languages, writing and musing over ideas and meanings, and I hope that devotion sparkles through in the high standards of work and service that I offer my clients.

I studied Spanish in Granada, Spain, and hold a BA (First Class) in Geography and an MPhil in Environment, Society and Development, both from the University of Cambridge, an MSc in City Planning and Regeneration from the University of Glasgow, the DELE Superior and the IoLET Diploma in Translation in both of my language pairs. I specialise in the social sciences, international development, urban development and regeneration and environment and conservation, in addition to regular work in the business, marketing and private client sectors.

As well as translation, I also do a lot of English-language editing, particularly for clients whose first language is not English, and localisation work - "translating" from American to British English.

I am a Full Member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists, a Qualified Member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting, and a Member of the International Association for Professional Translators and Interpreters. I'm delighted to be a part of MET.

I continually invest in learning and training to ensure that my skills are kept fresh and my specialist knowledge is up to date. My CPD activities include attending national and international conferences, workshops and seminars, MOOCS, completing webinars and video-based training and a continuous programme of reading. My full CPD record is available on request.
