AI: a tangential view from the medical writing field

Facilitator: Ailish Maher

In this 90-minute online session, Ailish Maher will report on key takeaways from the European Medical Writers Association (EMWA) symposium on AI in Medical Writing held on 9 May. She will talk about some of the issues covered at the symposium that affect all language professionals, including ethics, confidentiality, governance and regulatory aspects. In breakout groups, attendees will then have the opportunity to discuss the new AI landscape and how it is affecting their professional lives, whatever area they work in. The event will end with a general Q&A session in which attendees discuss points that came up in the breakout groups, what they have observed in their own fields, and positive steps we can take to harness the benefits of AI.

Participant profile: This session will be relevant for all language professionals in general, and for those working in the medical field in particular.
